Australian police have ended the operation for a four-year-old child who has been missing in the outback for almost three weeks, after renewed efforts failed to find any signs of the child.

Gus Lamont was spotted enjoying himself outside his family property on a remote rural property close to Yunta, about 186 miles from Adelaide, on September 27th.

His family member left him alone for about half an hour before checking on him, only to find the child missing, prompting one of the most extensive ground and aerial missions in South Australian history.

Latest Situation

Police - who do not think there was foul play - say they will carry on examining, but that the matter has become a "search for recovery".

Recently, officials temporarily scaled back the search, only to resume it on recently alongside 80 military staff.

"Commissioner authorities said police were looking a more extensive zone based on updated evaluations from medical and rescue experts, rather than any recent developments."

Mission Difficulties

On Friday, officials stated that the latest operation had not found any evidence of Gus.
